Dawson, GA – One Killed in Fatal Firetruck Accident on Callis Rd at Sellars Rd
Dawson, GA (June 25, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal firetruck accident that took place at an intersection in Dawson on Wednesday, June 22.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Callis Road and Sellars Road around 10:45 a.m. Fire crews were traveling in the area with three Department of Corrections inmates on board. Due to reasons that are not yet known, the firetruck violently overturned, leading to extensive damage.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
