Dalton, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-75
Dalton, GA (April 9, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal tractor-trailer accident that took place on Friday night, April 8, in Dalton.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 11:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75 around the area of mile marker 333. A 35-year-old man was traveling in a red Nissan Maxima when his vehicle suddenly left the roadway and struck a guardrail. This caused the Maxima to travel back onto the roadway, where it struck the back of a tractor-trailer. The Maxima was wedged under the back of the truck and dragged for several hundred feet before the truck came to a complete stop.
Several responders, including Dalton paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The passenger inside the Maxima, identified as a 35-year-old woman from Kentucky, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone else sustained injuries in the collision.
Due to the severity of the crash, multiple southbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
