Dalton, GA – Child Killed in Pedestrian Accident on N Selvidge St
Dalton, GA (June 1, 2021) – At 5:30 p.m. on the evening of Sunday, May 30, a child was killed in a pedestrian accident in Dalton.
According to the Dalton Police Department, the accident happened at 500 North Selvidge Street. The driver of a Ford Edge was pulling out of their driveway and passed a vehicle that was parked by a curb. A 4-year-old child suddenly stepped into the roadway and was struck by a passing vehicle. It is believed that the child was following his father, who had crossed the street to speak with neighbors only moments earlier.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The child was rushed to Hamilton Medical Center but was pronounced dead while there.
The driver who struck the child remained at the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
