Cumming, GA – Man Killed in Workplace Accident on Pilgrim Mill Rd
Cumming, GA (July 11, 2021) – On Sunday, July 11, a man was killed in a workplace accident on a roadway in Cumming.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on Pilgrim Mill Road in the Hickory Lakeside subdivision. A 49-year-old man from Piedmont was cleaning out a pump truck while on the job after he pumped concrete for a home. While he was cleaning out the truck, an air pocket formed, which puffed out a blast of air and pushed the man onto the roadway. He was then struck by a Ford dump truck that was traveling in the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene. While there, the worker was pronounced dead due to his traumatic injuries. Nobody else was injured in the crash.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
