Covington, GA – Update: Two Injured in Head-on Collision at GA-138 Intersection
Covington, GA (November 10, 2021) – Around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, a head-on collision occurred in Covington that injured two victims. The victims have since been identified.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-138 and Pirklefield Drive. Two vehicles were traveling on GA-138, identified as a black Jeep Liberty operated by a 26-year-old man and a silver Honda being operated by a 48-year-old man. The Jeep traveled across the roadway and struck the Honda head-on, which led to severe damages. The driver of the Honda was also ejected from the vehicle.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Jeep had to be extricated from their vehicle. Both of the drivers were critically injured and had to be rushed to local hospitals for treatment.
Police confirmed that charges are pending against the driver of the Jeep. The roadway was blocked for a period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
