Covington, GA – Rollover Accident at GA-36 & E End Rd Intersection
Covington, GA (August 6, 2021) – At 6 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, August 2, a rollover accident occurred at an intersection in Covington.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-36 and East End Road. A firetruck was traveling south with its lights and siren on when a yellow Ford Escape being operated by a teen made a left turn at the intersection. This caused the two vehicles to forcefully collide. The firetruck then went down an embankment and overturned onto its side.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Two injured firefighters were inside the truck and were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The 19-year-old driving the Ford was also taken to the hospital but her condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
