Covington, GA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-20 Near Almon Rd
Covington, GA (July 26, 2021) – At 1:37 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, July 26, a multi-vehicle crash with injuries occurred in Covington.
According to Newton County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 around the area of exit 88, Almon Road. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result of the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Two right lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police urged those in the area to use Access Road as an alternate route until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
