Cornelia, GA – Man Injured in Bicycle Accident on Old Cleveland Rd
Cornelia, GA (November 13, 2022) – A man was seriously injured in a bicycle accident that took place on a roadway in Cornelia on Wednesday, November 9.
According to Habersham County officials, the accident happened on Old Cleveland Road. Police confirmed that a male bicyclist was traveling in the area while a Honda CRV was traveling south. The Honda collided with the left rear side of the bicycle, causing it to knock the bicyclist off his bike and onto the shoulder of the road. The driver of the vehicle allegedly remained on scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Habersham County responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has since been identified as a 47-year-old man from Cornelia, was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the Honda CRV, who has been identified as a 68-year-old man from Clarkesville, was not hurt in the crash. He is now facing charges but they are not entirely known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
