Cordele, GA – Passenger Killed in Fatal Car Accident on I-75
Cordele, GA (August 11, 2021) – On Wednesday afternoon, August 11, a passenger was killed in a fatal car accident in Cordele.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-75. A driver was speeding in the area and went approximately 120 mph on the highway at one point. The vehicle veered off the side of the road near an entrance ramp on the highway, slamming into a utility pole when the driver lost control.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The adult female passenger in the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified only as an adult male, was airlifted to a Macon hospital for treatment of his injuries.
It is believed that the driver of the vehicle, which had Florida plates, was charged for the accident. The roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
