Columbus, GA – Police Investigating Fatal Chain-Reaction Crash on I-185 at Buena Vista Rd
Columbus, GA (August 7, 2021) – On Saturday night, August 7, one person was reportedly killed and several other victims were injured following a multi-vehicle crash in Columbus.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the southbound lanes of Interstate 185 at the exit to Buena Vista Road. Around 8:45 p.m., two vehicles traveling in the left lanes of the interstate collided, possibly striking a third vehicle in a chain-reaction crash.
At least one victim was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital by ambulance and authorities say one other person sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
It appears that EMS units also treated victims at the scene, though the total number of victims involved in the wreck was not provided by officers.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
