Cobb Co, GA – UPDATE: Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash at Cooper Lake Rd & Berryhill Creek
Cobb Co, GA (May 16, 2021) – Officers have released further details after a deadly pedestrian accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, May 15.
Sgt. Wayne Delk of the Cobb County Police Department stated that a man in an electric wheelchair was struck by a car and killed while crossing Cooper Lake Road, just east of Berryhill Creek. Police are now seeking help from the public in identifying the man.
The accident occurred just after 1:00 p.m. and is still being investigated by authorities with the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit.
Preliminary investigation indicated that an 84-year-old Mableton woman was traveling eastbound on Cooper Lake Road at Berryhill Creek when she struck a man crossing the street in an electric wheelchair.
The driver of the Honda pulled to the side of the road and waited for emergency personnel.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
