Chickamauga, GA – Update: Woman Killed in Head-on Collision on Johnson Rd
Chickamauga, GA (August 16, 2021) – At 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, a woman was killed in a fatal head-on collision in Chickamauga.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on Johnson Road. A 50-year-old woman was traveling in the southbound lane of traffic when she struck a Dodge Ram with her Kia Soul. The vehicles allegedly collided head-on due to reasons that are not yet known. Both vehicles came to a rest and sustained heavy damages due to the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 50-year-old Soul driver was pronounced dead at the scene after being removed from her vehicle. The driver of the Ram, identified as a 47-year-old man, was injured in the accident. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
