Chickamauga, GA – Serious Tractor-Trailer Accident with Injuries on US-27
Chickamauga, GA (July 29, 2021) – Around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, a serious tractor-trailer accident led to injuries in Chickamauga.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on US-27 near the area of the Shaw Industries plant. A 36-year-old woman was traveling north in a passenger vehicle when her vehicle collided with a semi-truck. The 61-year-old driver of the initial semi then ended up in the other lane where it was struck by a second semi-truck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 61-year-old and the 36-year-old drivers were seriously injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. The other driver of the second semi was not hurt.
Due to the severity of the crash, both northbound lanes of US-27 were blocked for over two hours until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
