Chatham Co, GA – Three Injured in Rollover Car Crash on I-16 at MM 151
Chatham Co, GA (May 21, 2021) – On Thursday afternoon, May 20, a serious rollover crash left two victims in critical condition, including a young child.
Georgia State Patrol troopers say that a 4-year-old child is in critical condition one day after he was ejected during the rollover wreck, which occurred on I-16 eastbound near mile marker 151.
Authorities say that he was not in a car seat and did not have a seatbelt on. GSP says the driver, a 37-year-old woman from Savannah, is also in serious condition. A third occupant was taken to an area medical center and discharged on Friday morning.
Officers reported the wreck around 4:15 p.m. Initial information from the scene indicated that the vehicle failed to maintain its lane, left the road, went into the median, hit the cable barrier, and rolled several times.
GSP troopers say that the crash remains under investigation, and the events leading up to the wreck are still unclear.
