Cartersville, GA (June 2, 2021) – On Tuesday afternoon, June 1, an officer was injured in a rear-end collision on a highway in Cartersville.

According to Floyd County officials, the accident happened on US-411. Police confirmed that a local officer was parked on the side of the road in his cruiser as he was writing up a report. His blue lights were activated when he was suddenly struck from behind by a passenger vehicle.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The officer was taken to Floyd Medical Center with a suspected concussion or another type of head injury.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
