Cartersville, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Car Accident on I-75
Cartersville, GA (September 18, 2021) – At 3:08 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 16, a man was killed in a fatal car accident in Cartersville.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-75 around mile marker 295. A man was traveling south in his Ford Explorer when he lost control of the vehicle. The Ford went off the side of the road and down an embankment where it struck a ditch. The vehicle then rotated and struck a tree.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 55-year-old man from Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
