6/11 Sparta, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Truck Crash on GA-22

Cartersville, GA (April 26, 2021) – At 8 p.m. on Sunday night, April 25, a child and others were injured in a tractor-trailer collision in Cartersville.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-75 around the area of mile marker 288. A Nissan was traveling south on the highway when it collided with a tractor-trailer for reasons that are not fully known. The Nissan then came to a rest and caught on fire.

Good Samaritans who were nearby went to rescue the family inside the Nissan, which consisted of a 32-year-old male, a 3-year-old girl, and an 8-month-old boy. The 3-year-old was critically injured and taken to a local hospital by medical helicopter. The driver and baby were also hospitalized with less severe injuries.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues at this time.
