Carnesville, GA – One Killed in Fatal Truck Accident on I-85
Carnesville, GA (July 28, 2021) – On Wednesday, July 28, one person was killed in a fatal truck accident on a highway in Carnesville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-85 around the area of mile marker 172. A box truck was traveling in the area when it suddenly struck the left side of a tractor-trailer in the area. The tractor-trailer was broken down and parked in an emergency lane. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The passenger of the box truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other people were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the southbound lanes of I-85 for a period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
