Camden Co, GA - One Killed, 17 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 SB

Camden Co, GA (July 17, 2021) – On Saturday, July 17, a commercial vehicle accident occurred on a highway in Camden County that led to serious injuries and at least one fatality.

Per reports from authorities, I-95 southbound had to be shut down at mile marker 22 due to the deadly multi-vehicle crash.

Georgia State Patrol troopers say that one person died and 17 people had to be transported to the hospital via ambulance.

The deadly incident happened at mile marker 16 around 2:15 p.m.

Initial reports stated that an International tractor-trailer was traveling north on I-95 in the right lane when the driver suddenly lost control and traveled across several northbound lanes, striking a Volkswagen Tiguan.

Both vehicles then spun into the median and slammed through the guardrail, entering the southbound lanes of I-95.

The big-rig driver then struck a Volkswagen Passat and Ford F-150, according to GSP troopers. A Chevrolet Tahoe and Dodge Dakota were also involved in the crash.

The accident caused all three southbound lanes of Interstate 95 to be shut down for more than six hours.

The driver of the VW Passat, identified as a 67-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries.

The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
