Calhoun, GA – Two Injured in Plane Crash Near Tom B David Airport
Calhoun, GA (January 28, 2023) – Two people sustained injuries as a result of a plane crash that took place near a Calhoun airport on Saturday afternoon, January 28.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the accident happened at an unknown time near the Tom B. David Airport. A small single-engine plane was taking off in the area when it started to catch on fire after takeoff and the engine started to fail. The plane crashed down and the plane became engulfed in flames.
Police claim that two passengers inside the plane were able to crawl out of the cockpit once the plane hit the ground. Paramedics were called to the scene to help the passengers. One of them was taken to the hospital with lower back pain and another sustained unknown injuries. The victims are expected to recover.
The runway at the airport was blocked off for an extended period of time following the collision. The scene was cleared sometime in the afternoon and the runway reopened.
