Calhoun, GA – Pedestrian Accident with Serious Injuries on Hwy 53
Calhoun, GA (March 11, 2022) – On Friday, March 11, a serious pedestrian accident with injuries took place on a major roadway in Calhoun.
According to Gordon County officials, the accident happened on Highway 53 in front of the local Waffle House near West Belmont Drive. A female pedestrian was walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by a vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The female was so badly injured that she had to be taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. Her current condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in front of the Waffle House for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
