Calhoun, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Fairmount Hwy
Calhoun, GA (June 15, 2021) – At 1:35 p.m. on the afternoon of Sunday, June 13, a man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Calhoun.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on the Fairmount Highway around the area of Lovers Lane Road. A 54-year-old man was traveling east on the highway on his motorcycle while a 51-year-old man was traveling west in a passenger vehicle. The driver of the passenger vehicle made an improper U-turn on the highway when the motorcycle suddenly struck the side of the vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was charged and was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes until police were able to clear the scene.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
