Calhoun, GA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash at GA-53 & Lovers Ln Rd
Calhoun, GA (June 13, 2021) – Around 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, June 13, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred at an intersection in Calhoun.
According to Gordon County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-53 and Lovers Lane Road. The driver of a passenger vehicle was traveling in the area when he made an illegal U-turn, colliding with a motorcyclist in the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The motorcyclist, identified only as an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver of the passenger vehicle remained at the scene. He was charged with first-degree homicide, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and making an improper U-turn.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
