Byron, GA (August 2, 2021) – Around 11 p.m. on Saturday night, July 31, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Byron.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on GA-42 around the area of mile marker 1. A woman was traveling east in her Dodge Charger when she suddenly struck a woman who was walking in the middle of the road. The driver remained at the scene and contacted the police.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 20-year-old woman, was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the collision continues.
