Byron, GA – Elderly Man Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Carrington Ln
Byron, GA (June 10, 2021) – At 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, June 7, a man was injured in a pedestrian accident on a roadway in Byron.
According to the Byron Police Department, the accident happened at 100 Carrington Lane. A driver of a black Nissan Altima lost control of their vehicle in the area, causing the car to drive up onto the sidewalk in the area. The vehicle then struck an elderly man who was walking on the sidewalk. The vehicle also struck a mailbox and continued driving, where it was last seen near White Road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The elderly pedestrian, identified as a local 65-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their current condition is not known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police found the driver’s side mirror and a hubcap laying nearby from the vehicle.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues as police search for the driver.
