Bryan Co, GA - Two Dead, Several Injured in Head-on Crash at US Hwy 280 & Pembroke

Bryan Co, GA (August 7, 2021) – Around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 6, at least two people were killed in a fatal car crash on a roadway in Bryan County.

Authorities say that two people were killed in a four-vehicle car crash in Bryan County shortly before 6:00 a.m. According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Dante Williams, two vehicles were traveling on US Highway 280 when they collided head-on, killing two people. The incident occurred roughly five miles out of Pembroke.

One of the cars, a maroon Nissan Altima, was heading northbound in the direction of Interstate 16 when he crossed the center line, hitting a Toyota Camry head-on.

A passenger in the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was transported to Memorial Health in Savannah by ambulance with serious injuries.

Two other vehicles, a Ford Explorer and Ford Taurus, were traveling in the direction of I-16 at the time and were also involved in the crash. The Taurus’s driver swerved into a ditch to avoid the collision and the driver of the Ford Explorer flipped after braking to avoid the wreck, landing on the grassy shoulder of the roadway.

Those two drivers were transported to Saint Joseph Candler in Savannah.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
