Brunswick, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Truck Accident on I-95
Brunswick, GA (October 29, 2021) – Around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday morning, October 28, a man was killed in a fatal truck accident in Brunswick.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-95 around the area of mile marker 40. A Nissan Sentra was traveling south when the driver experienced a flat tire, causing the vehicle to veer off the road. The vehicle came to a stop in the road. A man got out of his vehicle to make it to safety. A 58-year-old driver in a Tesla then crashed into the Nissan. From there, a 63-year-old man in a Volvo tractor-trailer struck the Nissan again.
A man in an Altima was also traveling in the area and swerved to miss the Sentra in the roadway. Their vehicle ran back into the road, which is when a Peterbilt truck crashed into the passenger’s side and threw the driver of the Altima from his vehicle.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Nissan Altima, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. It is not known if anyone else in the accident was hurt.
The roadway was blocked for a period of time. It is not known if anybody received citations for their role in the collision.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
