Braselton, GA – Fatal Truck Accident in Construction Zone on I-85
Braselton, GA (September 30, 2021) – At 11:10 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, September 29, a fatal truck accident occurred in Braselton.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-85. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the area when traffic suddenly came to a stop in a construction zone. The truck was unable to stop in time, slamming into the rear of a Toyota Camry traveling in front of it. Both of the vehicles then continued onward where they slammed into a tanker truck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Toyota, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the initial truck was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, a large portion of the road was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
