Bonaire, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident at GA-247 & Old SR-96 Intersection
Bonaire, GA (January 31, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place at an intersection in Bonaire on Sunday evening, January 30.
Houston County officials confirmed that the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of GA-247 and Old SR-96. A pedestrian was walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by a vehicle that was traveling through the intersection. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified by police, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to extensive injuries.
The roadway was blocked in both lanes at the intersection for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update as more information becomes available.
