Blythe, GA – One Killed in Fatal Truck Accident at GA-1 & Bath Edie Rd
Blythe, GA (September 3, 2021) – On Friday morning, September 3, a fatal truck accident occurred at an intersection in Blythe.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-1 and Bath Edie Road. An elderly couple were traveling together in a passenger vehicle when they exited a gas station at the intersection. This is when their vehicle was forcefully struck by a tractor-trailer headed north. The accident led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The male driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was taken to the hospital with critical injuries but her current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
