Bloomingdale, GA – UPDATE: Two Killed, Two Injured in Rollover Crash on I-16 at MM 151
Bloomingdale, GA (May 31, 2021) – On Thursday afternoon, May 20, a serious rollover crash left two victims in critical condition, including a young child. Now, authorities reported that the child has succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities say the 4-year-old boy, who was thrown from his vehicle during a wreck on a Georgia interstate last week, died at the hospital on Saturday, May 29. Officers said that the child was not in a car seat and was not wearing a seatbelt when the wreck happened.
An adult male was also listed in critical condition following the incident, which occurred on Interstate 16 near mile marker 151 around 4:15 p.m. He has since died from his injuries as well.
A third passenger was transported to the hospital via ambulance but discharged on Friday morning, May 28.
The driver, a 37-year-old woman from Savannah, remains in serious condition. She twice failed to maintain the vehicle’s lane, left the roadway, struck the median and the cable barrier, and rolled several times. The car landed on the westbound side of the highway, blocking traffic.
Troopers say the collision remains under investigation and have not released further details.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the deceased victims. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
