Bishop, GA – Teen Injured in 18-Wheeler Accident on US-441
Bishop, GA (March 2, 2022) – A teen was injured in an 18-wheeler accident that took place on Wednesday morning, March 2, in Bishop.
Georgia State Patrol officials confirmed that the accident happened on US-441 around the area of Georgia Highway 186 around 8 a.m. A Ford Taurus was traveling north when the driver attempted to turn at the intersection, colliding with an 18-wheeler. The truck collided with the side of the Ford, which led to extensive damages.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Taurus, identified as an 18-year-old woman, was transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The truck driver, identified as a 65-year-old man, was not hurt but remained at the scene.
Due to the severity of the crash, a large portion of the road was blocked for some time. Police worked to remove the truck from a nearby ditch, which led to delays in the area.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
