Ball Ground, GA – Five-Vehicle Collision with Injuries on Matt Hwy
Ball Ground, GA (April 16, 2021) – On Wednesday evening, April 14, a five-vehicle collision with injuries occurred on a Ball Ground highway.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened when a Dodge pickup truck was towing a 52-foot trailer on the Matt Highway near Old Etowah Drive. The driver was unable to stop in time and struck a van on the slick highway, pushing it across lines and into the other lane of traffic. The van was struck by a Toyota Camry, which ran off the road into a mailbox. The pickup truck then struck a second vehicle.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Camry was seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the van had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck who initially caused the accident has been charged with driving too fast for conditions due to the rain at the time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
