Augusta, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Mike Padgett Hwy
Augusta, GA (January 8, 2023) – A woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Augusta on the evening of Friday, January 6.
According to Richmond County officials, the accident happened around 6:45 p.m. at 3300 Mike Padgett Highway. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when she was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are not fully known. The driver remained at the scene of the crash.
Several responders, including paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as a 35-year-old woman, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene before 7:30 p.m. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. Police worked to clear the scene within several hours so traffic could resume as normal.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
