Augusta, GA – Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident Involving Train Near Riverwatch Pkwy
Augusta, GA (May 2, 2021) – At 1:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Sunday, May 2, a man was killed in a pedestrian accident involving a train in Augusta.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on the railroad tracks near the area of Riverwatch Parkway and Claussen Road. A 25-year-old man was walking in the area when he was struck by an approaching train.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and tragically passed away as a result of blunt force trauma.
The area was blocked for a period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
