Augusta, GA – Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Bobby Jones Expy
Augusta, GA (February 9, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash that took place on a highway in Augusta on Tuesday evening, February 8.
According to Richmond County deputies, the accident happened around 5:43 p.m. on the Bobby Jones Expressway around the area of Doug Bernard Parkway. A motorcycle was traveling on the highway in the area when they were suddenly struck by a tractor-trailer. It is not known if the truck driver lost control or how the two vehicles collided. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The motorcyclist, who has since been identified as a 46-year-old man from Waynesboro, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the roadway was blocked in the area on the highway. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
