Augusta, GA – Man Killed in Dirt Bike Accident on Peach Orchard Rd
Augusta, GA (August 29, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal dirt bike accident that took place on a roadway in Augusta on Saturday night, August 27, in Augusta.
According to Augusta officials, the accident happened around 7:58 p.m. at 3000 Peach Orchard Road. Deputies confirmed that a passenger vehicle was traveling in the area when it struck a dirt bike in the area due to reasons that are not entirely known. The dirt bike operator was thrown off of the vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The operator of the dirt bike, identified as 23-year-old man, was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center with traumatic injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there. The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured but remained at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
