Augusta, GA – Firefighter Injured in House Fire on Winchester Dr
Augusta, GA (July 16, 2021) – At 11:09 a.m. on Friday morning, July 16, a firefighter was injured in a house fire in Augusta.
According to Augusta officials, the incident took place in a home on Winchester Drive. The Augusta Fire Department initially received calls that a home was on fire in the area. When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke pouring out the top of the home. There were several people inside the home but they made it out safely.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene. One of the firefighters received minor injuries in the accident and was rushed to the hospital. The unidentified party is expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the fire, the area was blocked off for a period of time as fire crews worked to get the fire under control.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
