Augusta, GA – Fatal Car Crash at Mike Padgett Hwy & McCombs Rd
Augusta, GA (December 9, 2021) – Around 4:31 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, December 9, a fatal car crash occurred in Augusta.
According to Richmond County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Mike Padgett Highway and McCombs Road. Police confirmed that a 33-year-old man from Waynesboro was pulling out of a parking lot at the intersection when his car was struck by a southbound vehicle. The vehicles were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The Waynesboro driver was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
