Augusta, GA – Deputy Injured in Car Accident at Bobby Jones Expy & Peach Orchard Rd
Augusta, GA (September 16, 2022) – A deputy was injured in a car accident that took place at an intersection in Augusta on Thursday evening, September 15.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Bobby Jones Expressway and Peach Orchard Road. Police confirmed that a passenger vehicle was traveling in the area when it collided with an unmarked police cruiser due to reasons that are not entirely known. Both vehicles sustained immense damage as a result of the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The deputy, who has not yet been identified, received a serious laceration to the leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, though her current condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
