Atlanta, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Cumberland Pkwy
Atlanta, GA (October 27, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a major Atlanta roadway on Tuesday afternoon, October 25.
According to Cobb County Police, the accident happened at 4:05 p.m. on Cumberland Parkway just east of South Cobb Drive. Police confirmed that a woman was walking across the roadway in the area when she was suddenly struck by a 30-year-old man who was driving a silver GMC Terrain in the area. The driver allegedly could not stop in time, colliding with the pedestrian.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 60-year-old female pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Nobody else sustained injuries in the accident.
Due to the severity of the collision, a portion of the road was blocked for some time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as they were able to.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
