Atlanta, GA – Woman Injured in Rollover DUI Accident on I-75
Atlanta, GA (July 4, 2022) – A woman was seriously injured in a rollover accident involving a DUI driver that took place in Atlanta on Monday afternoon, July 4.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-75 around the area of Windy Hill Road and the Cobb County bus station. A 36-year-old man was traveling in the area in a pickup truck when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to roll over on the shoulder of the road. A woman was ejected from the pickup truck as a result. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash on foot.
Paramedics, Atlanta Fire, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to assist those in need. The female passenger who was ejected from the vehicle was seriously injured in the accident. She was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and is undergoing treatment for her injuries.
All lanes of traffic were closed in the area for an extended period of time after the accident. Police later found the driver of the vehicle on Cumberland Boulevard. He has since been charged, though his exact charges are not yet known. Police confirmed that the driver was driving intoxicated when the accident occurred.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
