Atlanta, GA – Six Hurt in Rear-End Crash on I-85 SB at GA Hwy 400
Atlanta, GA (October 17, 2021) – Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to a serious multi-car crash on southbound Interstate 85 early Sunday morning, October 17.
The crash occurred just south of Georgia Highway 400 around 1:00 a.m.
Shortly before midnight, during a traffic stop, officers with the Atlanta Police Department pulled a car over. The driver stopped in the left emergency lane. The APD officer then directed the driver to move to the right shoulder, GSP said.
As the driver moved to the right, an SUV rear-ended them, seriously injuring a 28-year-old woman inside the vehicle.
In total, six people suffered injuries, including four adults and two children. EMS units responded to the scene shortly after the incident happened and transported all six victims to an area medical center via ambulance. The extent of their injuries remains unclear.
Authorities shut down the highway for several hours overnight.
Officers released no further details, however. The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
