Atlanta, GA - Police Investigating Car Accident on I-75/85 at University Ave

Atlanta, GA (June 17, 2021) – On Thursday morning, June 17, authorities assisted at the scene of a multi-car crash that occurred on a highway in Atlanta.

The accident took place at 7:15 a.m. when multiple vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75/85 around the area of University Avenue. The accident led to a variety of severe damages in the vehicles involved.

Law enforcement officials, fire crews, and paramedics were present at the scene of the accident. EMS crews assisted those with injuries, though the extent of their injuries is not yet known. Paramedics did not confirm how many were transported to the hospital.

Due to the severity of the collision, nearly all lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police were able to quickly reopen multiple lanes and moved the accident to the right. Police urged those in the area to utilize I-285 as an alternate route.

No further details have been provided but the investigation is ongoing.
