Atlanta, GA (January 17, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal house fire that took place in Atlanta on Sunday evening, January 16.

According to Atlanta Police, the fire broke out around 7:15 p.m. in a home on Oak Drive. Fire crews received multiple calls and arrived at the scene, where they found fire and smoke pouring out of the home. The one-story home was soon completely engulfed in flames, with debris scattered all around. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within the hour.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One party was found covered by debris when fire crews accessed the inside of the home. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time following the fire until it was completely brought under control.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
