Atlanta, GA – One Injured in 13-Vehicle Collision on Downtown Connector
Atlanta, GA (February 5, 2022) – One person was injured in a thirteen-vehicle collision that took place in Atlanta on Friday morning, February 4.
According to local officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of the Downtown Connector around the area of the Langford Parkway exit. The crash happened around 6 a.m. when traffic was heavy. For reasons that are not fully known, thirteen vehicles became involved in a severe chain-reaction collision with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident sustained heavy damages and multiple vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person was trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated by fire crews. The injured party was taken by ambulance crews to Grady Memorial Hospital. Their condition is not known at this time.
Authorities confirmed that the accident led to extensive delays and they completely blocked the Interstate in the area around 7 a.m. Lanes started to reopen around 8 a.m.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
