Atlanta, GA – Officer Injured in Auto-Pedestrian Collision on I-75
Atlanta, GA (October 6, 2021) – At 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, October 6, an officer was injured in a pedestrian accident in Atlanta.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened on I-75 around the area of 17th Street. An officer was responding to a crash on the highway and was standing outside of his police cruiser. Another vehicle was traveling in the area when it suddenly struck the officer. The driver who struck the officer remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The officer was seriously injured in the accident. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries to his head, arm, and leg. He was conscious at the time of the crash.
The driver who remained at the scene will be receiving charges for their role in the collision.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
