Atlanta, GA – Nine-Vehicle Collision Leads to Injuries on I-85
Atlanta, GA (September 2, 2021) – Around 6:52 a.m. on Wednesday morning, September 1, a nine-vehicle collision occurred on a highway in Atlanta.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 around the area of Peachtree Street. A total of nine vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision that led to severe damages to the involved vehicles. Debris was left scattered all over the roadway and the damaged vehicles were towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Three left lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time. Police urged those in the area to avoid I-85 and use Piedmont into the city.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
