Atlanta, GA – Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-85 Near University Ave
Atlanta, GA (August 15, 2021) – At 7:09 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, August 14, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on a highway in Atlanta.
According to Fulton County officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 around the area of exit 244, University Avenue. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided due to reasons that are not fully known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Two right lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
