Atlanta, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash on I-285
Atlanta, GA (June 30, 2022) – A man was killed in a collision that took place on a highway in Atlanta around midnight on Thursday, June 30.
Authorities with the Dunwoody Police Department immediately responded, where they found that a driver was experiencing mechanical issues and came to a stop on the left shoulder of I-285 close to Ashford-Dunwoody Road. When the driver was stopped on the left shoulder, it was struck by a second vehicle that allegedly did not see the first one. A third vehicle then collided with the second vehicle, causing the third to roll over.
Several responders, including Atlanta paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 22-year-old male driver in the second vehicle was ejected at the time of the collision. He was rushed to Grady Hospital with severe injuries but was pronounced dead while there.
Due to the severity of the accident, several lanes of traffic were blocked on the highway in the area. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
No further details have been released but Dunwoody Police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
